Five Steps to Combating Terrorism
End of Course Reflection
1. What is the most important concept you learned this semester? Explain the concept briefly and discuss why it is important.
I believe that the most important concept that I learned this semester was the idea that Web 2.0 is taking over the world. This concept that the internet has become the new global community has made me really think about how much time I spend on social networks compared to how much time I spend in person with my friends. This class has made me realize how "tech savy" the "netgen" will be expected to be. Just by making a research project we were expected to know how to embed files and URLs and hyperlink our sources. I am excited to see how the web expands even further that it has in the next decade.
2. From all the new knowledge you gained in this class, choose 2 facts or ideas that make the biggest impression on you. Explain.
The Web is growing exponentially. This fascsinated me because before this class I didn't realize how many people used the web.
3. What 3 skills will you take from this class, and how will you use them in the future?
The three skills that I have learned from this class are:
Social Bookmarking (such as Diigo)
Uploading videos to websites (such as youtube)
Using Creative Commons to check my copy right laws.
4. Look at the 4 global competencies (objectives) for the course. Which objective do you feel you developed to the greatest degree?
What did you learn about that objective, how did you learn it, and why does it matter in the world?
Communicate Ideas: Connect and Collaborate Across Boundaries
I learned how to communicate with people outside of my circle of friends through the internet. I learned about different ways to communicate by watching videos about how to use the Web and One program that I found to be really interesting was the couch surfing we learned about in the documentary Us Now. I believe that this objective is important to the world because I strongly believe in the power of knowledge and by communicating ideas with people that you wouldn't normally have the opportunity to talk to knowledge and cultures are spread.
5. What does it mean to be a global leader in the 21st century?
A global leader in the 21st century is a person who not only takes the time and effort to learn the technology but also who uses this technology to teach others.
